Oh no! Ferry Point Park and the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center are closed for renovations. The good news is that these attractions will be open again in 2024 and will offer improved parking, beautiful views of the water and a places for visitors to dock visiting vessels and a new walkway along the perimeter of the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center Lawn.

In the meantime, there are plenty of places in Queen Anne's County to explore  while the renovations are underway. Here are the answers to some questions we are fielding during the closure.

Where is the closest public restroom?

There are portable rest stations just about a minute away from The Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center/ Ferry Point sites. They are located in the parking lot at the Kent Narrows Boat Ramp off of Piney Narrows Road in between the south side of the Boatel and the Commuter Parking Lots which are located under the west side of the Kent Narrows Bridge. (Exit 41)

Where else can we go that is similar to Ferry Point.

We recommend the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center for Birding, walking trails and kayaking. It's in Grasonville and less than a 10 minute drive from here.

You may also head west on 301/50 and take the Stevensville Exit to Terrapin Park. There are several miles of trails at this Park and also a sandy beach area that overlooks the Chesapeake Bay and Bay Bridge. This is a great place to catch beautiful sunsets. Parking is free.

Another option is Matapeake State Park which sits on the Chesapeake Bay on the southwest side of Kent Island. There is a dog park and swimming beach here. Parking is free.

Finally, if you want to fish from a dock, take the last exit before crossing the Bay Bridge toward Romancoke. The Romancoke Fishing Pier and Kayak Ramp is an option. Hourly parking is available. You must have a license to fish from this pier. You may pick one up at Chesapeake Outdoors or at one of the other places listed on the Public Landing webpage.

We need brochures and visitor information?

Printed travel guides and maps of Kent Narrows are available at most hotels and restaurants in the Kent Narrows. A Kent Narrows Travel Guide and map are also available on line .

Queen Anne's County has set up a temporary visitors center at the Queenstown Outlets at 441 Outlet Center Dr. in Queenstown, MD 21658.
