Hours limited, please chack before visiting. Visitors take in the birds eye views of the Kent Narrows, the Chester River and the Eastern Bay from the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center.
Fishing Boats, The Island Queen, Shirley B, III and Miss Violet gather in the early morning at Wells Cove Public Landing. Fish with some of the most experienced Captains on the Chesapeake Bay.

Charter Boats leave from various marinas, docks and public landing spots located in the Kent Narrows vicinity. Most of the Head Boats leave from Wells Cove Public Landing each morning during Fishing season.

Many boats work out of various llocations in Kent Narrows and come here from other parts of the Eastern Shore to pick up customers. Please note that boats will move their base of operations from time to time depending on the season and the conditions. It's best to book your fishing and other trips ahead of your visit.

It is often possible to board these boats during boating season the morning of the trip without reservation. Fishing rods are supplied. These boats charge by the head. Please bring a cooler to take your catch home.

Captain Tyrone Meredith is a 5th generation fisherman with over forty years of experience working on these waters. He operates the Island Queen The longest headboat (55 feet) in the Kent Narrows fishing fleet. USGC to carry up to 49 passengers. Fishing locations include the Chesapeake Bay, the Wye River, Eastern Bay and the Chester River. Trips generally begin at the end of March and continue through until the end of fall. Trips generally depart daily during fishing season from Wells Cove Public Landing.

Yes, there are plenty of privately operated outdoor and indoor marinas here that can haul out and service your larger yachts and boats. Most have travel lifts. Please visit our Marinas Page for more details.

Kent Narrows Public Landing/ Boat Launch (Admission fee Permit Required*)
106 Piney Narrows Road, Chester, MD. 21619
The 1.0 acre site is primarily used for boat launching from the two 34 foot wide boat launching ramps. It has parking for approximately 85 vehicles and is wheelchair accessible and has portable toilets.Restaurants and retail shops including places to purchase ice, beverages, boating and fishing supplies are within walking distance of the the ramp.

Boaters will find this is an excellent staging area for cruising east towards Queenstown (5 miles), northwest towards Rock Hall (11 miles), or out into the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay (8 miles). This 1.0-acre site is primarily used for boat launching from the two 34 foot wide boat launching ramps. Parking for approximately 85 vehicles is available. Wheelchair accessible portable toilets are provided year round.

The Kent Narrows Boat Ramps are located on the west side of the Kent Narrows just off of Piney Narrows Road. They are operated by the Queen Anne's County Department of Parks and Recreation. There are parking spots available for boat trailers. No continuous overnight parking is available at this site for vehicles or for trailers. For more information contact the Queen Anne's County Department of Parks and Recreation Public Landings Division at 410-758-0835. The boat ramp is open 24 hours a day.

All landings in Queen Anne's County Require that a current permit be displayed by every vehicle, with or without a trailer, for either the launching of a boat or general parking. Boaters may purchase a daily, annual or commercial permit.
Annual permits are valid only when displayed on the driver's side of either the boat trailer tongue or the vehicle rear bumper. Annual permits expire on December 31. For special or unique circumstances contact the public landings office.
Daily Permits are valid only when hang tags are displayed on the vehicle's inside mirror with permit information facing out.

All landings are trash free, please take home what you bring with you. Because Maryland believes in being good stewards of its resources litter control laws range from $1,500 fine and possible 30 days in prison to a $30,000 fine with possible 5 years in prison. Paddlers should avoid using this location due to the heavy boat traffic and swift currents in the Narrows, which run up to three knots.
​
Where can I purchase a public landing permit for the Kent Narrows landing (boat ramp) in Queen Anne's County?
​
You may buy a permit over the counter from a locally authorized permit vendor or directly from the Queen Anne's County Department of Parks and Recreation's Public Landings Division. The vendors that are located closest to the boat ramps at Kent Narrows are located about five minutes away in Chester.
